It all begins tomorrow. Years of planning come down to this. It starts tomorrow whether anyone is ready or not. And from my perch in The Jing it looks like things are ready. The banners are up, the flower pots are out, the buildings are painted, the new subway lines are open, and the air is….well, still very smoggy. But, no matter what the government says, there's really nothing they can do about that! On Monday afternoon, following a particularly dreadful morning, the skies suddenly cleared and the temperature dropped. Everyone thought "if only it's like this on Friday." I and a friend took advantage of the great weather and headed to Tiananmen Square to enjoy a bit of the festive atmosphere. Enjoy.
