Some friends here in the Twin Cities have a long-standing tradition of hitting the local DQ on the last 70-degree day (or above) in a calendar year, and the first one in the new year. This being Minnesota, the days on which each of those temperature readings occur can vary. A lot!
According to the National Weather Service, our first 70-degree (+) day in 2020 was April 7. The last one of 2020 was on November 7.
Today we topped 70 for the first time in 2021, less than 5 months since the last one. That’s a pretty short winter for these parts (although we are all keenly aware that we could still get a snowstorm or two in April).
At least for today, it was Spring!
And we kept the tradition alive by grabbing ice cream at the DQ!
