On Tuesday morning our beloved Gracie suffered a stroke that knocked out her ability to speak and to swallow. Since her previous stroke in February, she has been adamant that she did not want to return to the hospital for any reason and wanted no life-saving interventions. She wanted nothing to interfere with her going home.
Last week her wishes were formalized when she was admitted to a home hospice program. We are so grateful for the timing of that decision because it means now she is in her own bed being cared for by a wonderful team of hospice nurses and nursing assistants. She is heavily sedated while we wait for Jesus to command her still-strong body to release her soul.
For years my father had a small plaque on his desk that said, simply, “Perhaps Today.”

That has been our prayer every day, and again today as we begin day 6 of what my sister is now calling “Gracie’s long Minnesota goodbye.”
Thank you for your love and prayers for her and the rest of the family as we walk this difficult path.
And feel free to take a minute to watch one of her past videos.
PERHAPS TODAY!
Praying with and for you Joann, Gracie and family!

Thanks, Karen.
In my mind I know we all have to go one day. But it’s so hard to let go of a wonderful person as her. I dedicate this song to her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7qOLe9gfVE
