Gracie’s hymns for this Sabbath are: Morning Has Broken; Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee; and What a Wonderful Savior. She hopes you will be blessed.
Lyrics (via hymnary.org):
MORNING HAS BROKEN, by Eleanor Farjeon
1 Morning has broken
like the first morning,
blackbird has spoken
like the first bird.
Praise for the singing!
Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing
fresh from the Word!
2 Sweet the rain’s new fall
sunlit from heaven,
like the first dewfall
on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness
of the wet garden,
sprung in completeness
where God’s feet pass.
3 Mine is the sunlight!
Mine is the morning
born of the one light
Eden saw play!
Praise with elation,
praise every morning,
God’s recreation
of the new day!
JESUS THE VERY THOUGHT OF THEE, by St. Bernard of Clairvoux
1 Jesus, the very thought of thee
with sweetness fills the breast;
but sweeter far thy face to see,
and in thy presence rest.
2 O hope of every contrite heart,
O joy of all the meek,
to those who fall, how kind thou art!
How good to those who seek!
3 But what to those who find? Ah, this
nor tongue nor pen can show;
the love of Jesus, what it is,
none but his loved ones know.
4 Jesus, our only joy be thou,
as thou our prize wilt be;
Jesus, be thou our glory now,
and through eternity.
WHAT A WONDERFUL SAVIOR, by Elisha A. Hoffman
1 Christ has for sin atonement made,
What a wonderful Saviour!
We are redeemed! the price is paid!
What a wonderful Saviour!
Refrain:
What a wonderful Saviour is Jesus, my Jesus!
What a wonderful Saviour is Jesus, my Lord!
2 I praise Him for the cleansing blood,
What a wonderful Saviour!
That reconciled my soul to God;
What a wonderful Saviour! (Refrain)
3 He cleansed my heart from all its sin,
What a wonderful Saviour!
And now He reigns and rules therein;
What a wonderful Saviour! (Refrain)
4 He gives me overcoming pow’r,
What a wonderful Saviour!
And triumph in each trying hour;
What a wonderful Saviour! (Refrain)
5 To Him I’ve given all my heart,
What a wonderful Saviour!
The world shall never share a part;
What a wonderful Saviour! (Refrain)
Thank you for sharing your love for the Lord through your music and blog – blessings!
Thank u, Gracie. As in so many churches, the piano has been replaced by electric keyboard. I’ve yet to hear one that has the sound & “realness” of the piano.
How my heart is blessed by the hymns & richness of a real keyboard…. never to be replaced by the electronics. Bless u.
Yes, I was blessed! I listen to this on Monday rather than on Sunday–so I get blessed at church, then by these beautiful hymns. As you were playig this morning I thought, I hope there’s a piano in heaven! So human-like of us, isn’t it?! The music in heaven will be more than we can imagine here. Thank you for giving us a preview!
