Today is Reformation Sunday, so naturally the fist hymn in this week’s set is A Mighty Fortress is Our God, by Martin Luther. The other two are Now Thank We All Our God, and O God Our Help in Ages Past.
If you’re like me, you may not be able to resist the urge to stand when you sing these three hymns.

The first time I heard Now Thank We All Our God was when I attended a Lutheran High School in Minnesota after my family moved to Minnesota. For some reason, that hymn was not in the Baptist Hymnal that I grew up with, and I remember thinking “where has this hymn been all my life?” It’s still one of my favorites!
